Uttarakhand has been fortunate that the coronavirus has not, until now, reached our hilly regions. The impact of COVID-19 had remained largely limited to the Tarai–Bhabar areas. However, the lockdown, like in other parts of India, has rendered the entire state of Uttarakhand almost silent.
In this pictorial article, we present photographs sent by friends of “PAHAR” from various parts of Uttarakhand. These pictures are not just a reflection of today’s reality but also raise questions about the kind of world, country, and society we want. All these photographs were taken between April 18 and 20,2020.
While cities lie silent, rural life is still trying its best to continue at its usual pace. It remains to be seen whether, in the coming time, the economic lockdown might also silence our villages.
